There are various usage scenarios for industrial software, and one of those common is the isolation of the Industrial Control System network from other networks (that includes the Internet). The Internet has become the medium for many software providers to activate their software as it solves a lot of licensing concerns. Whilst these two approaches seem diametrically opposed, they both come from the same starting ideal; security. This guide will take you through activating PME 9.8 (or later) for an offline PC with Emerson.

Let’s begin…

  • After installing PME on the PC, go to activate through PME or the Entitlement and License Manager where you should get the following warning prompting you for manual activation. Click continue.

  • A Locking Code should be provided.  Write/Copy this code, as you’ll need it later.

  • With the locking code copied, head to the login area of Emerson’s Community portal. The below link will take you to the software download section.

  • Find the license to activate on the offline PC and select “Activate Manually”.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Currently this does not work in Chrome. Please use 'Firefox' or 'Edge' browser.

  • After completing the activation, download the license file.
  • Unzip the file and move it over to the offline PC.
  • The next screen should prompt you to browse and select the license file. Continue by selecting “Install License”.
Congratulations you have now completed the offline activation for Emerson’s PME.

If you do not get the above confirmation message for a successful activation Control Logic which is now an IPD business, should be able to assist you with resolving the issue.
