Busway Systems for Flexible Power Distribution
Achieving efficient and reliable power distribution is a necessity in the industrial and commercial sectors. Traditional cabling methods often struggle to meet the demands for improved safety, quicker installations, and better scalability. IPD's Powerduct busway systems offer a more advanced alternative that aligns with industry standards for electrical distribution.
Powerduct systems simplify electrical pathways, unlike conventional wiring solutions that can be complex and maintenance-heavy. They are easy to install while minimising the need for extensive conduit systems that increase physical footprint and potential points of failure. Implementing this streamlined approach reduces labour and improves the electrical distribution network's overall safety and durability.
A key advantage of the Powerduct Series is its adherence to AS/NZS 61439:2016 standards, with all components upholding strict performance criteria. The busbar trunking systems feature a low impedance and sandwich construction that avoids air gaps, which are common in traditional cabling and can lead to energy losses and increased fire risks. The modular busway is capable of high-power distribution from 400A up to 6300A.
For high-demand environments such as data centres, manufacturing facilities, and large commercial buildings, the Powerduct can stand against dust, water, and other environmental elements that can compromise electrical systems. It provides an ingress protection rating of IP54 for indoor setups and IP66 for outdoor configurations.
Powerduct busway systems are designed to be flexible and easily expandable. Tap-off boxes come with safety interlocks and are available in plug-in or bolt-on types to support custom configurations. Each joint is equipped with a thermal indicator for visual inspection (for overheating) without opening the joint cover. They also come in both aluminium and copper options. This adaptability allows the electrical infrastructure to grow or change without extensive overhaul.
As the commercial and industrial sectors move towards more sustainable and cost-effective practices, adopting innovative solutions like IPD’s Powerduct is an investment in electrical safety and reliability. We provide full support for Powerduct project execution, from design to supply and installation.
