Priorly Emerson was not able to issue new licences for PME under previous GE licensing system agreements, however, there is a workaround. Legacy licenses can still be generated in 6 steps in this tech tip.
Legacy licenses are available for PME 9.7, and even earlier than 8.6 in the event that a site cannot be upgraded, or a specific version is needed for technical reasons. There are currently a few limitations to keep in mind concerning Legacy licenses, and these are that hardware keys, local license server and moving licenses are not supported.
STEP 1
Open the Product Authorisation program called TCPAuth.exe located in the install directory of PME. The default path will be C:\Program Files (x86)\Proficy\Proficy Machine Edition\Common\IDE once there launch the TCPAuth.exe program
Ok, let’s start the licensing process.
STEP 2
Once the program has launched select the Add.. button.
STEP 3
Now select to license via Phone/Fax/E-mail and select Next.
STEP 4
At this screen, you will need to enter the relevant details as you can see below.
DO NOT SELECT SEND EMAIL as this will not work. Instead, you will need to take a screenshot and send this to Emerson Support. if you need help with this, reach out to your local distributor such as IPD which was previously known as Control Logic, who can facilitate this for you.
STEP 5
Once Emerson Support has received the above information, they will be able to generate a Key Code from both the Serial Number and Site Code specific to that PC. Once you have received the Key Code from Emerson, launch the TCPAuth Program again and instead select the Key Code option.
STEP 6
Then simply enter the Serial Number, Key Code, and select Finish to complete the Legacy Licensing process.
