The Emerson PLC Hardware provides a range of details for tracking purposes, such as Part Number, Firmware Version Number (At the time of manufacture), Hardware version, Serial Number, and Date of Manufacture. These are all marked on the module labels.
The following examples show where these details can be reviewed and how to interpret the details,
Image 1 – Complete Part Number, Serial Number and Date Code Breakdown
Image 1 is an RX3i Universal backplane label located on the right hand end of the backplane.
Red - Complete Product Description
Green - Serial Number and Date Code
Product description = IC695CHS007-AA
Serial number = H025424
Date Code = 1141
A breakdown of the details are;
Product part number: IC695CHS007
Hardware / Firmware version at time of Manufacture: AA
A – Module hardware version
A – Module firmware version
Product Serial No: H025424
Date Code: 1141 – Module was manufactured in Week 41, 2011
Image 2 – 4 Digit Hardware / Firmware Representation
Image 2: CPU, NIU, Comm’s, I/O module etc. labels are located on the lefthand side of the module.
Product part number: IC695CPE305
Hardware / Firmware Version at time of Manufacture: ABAH
Newer released modules have a 4 digit hardware/firmware number such as ABAH
AB – Module hardware version
AH – Module firmware version
Product Serial No: L665459
Date Code: 1411 – Module was manufactured in Week 11, 2014
Image 3 – No “-“ Separators in Part Number
Image 3, Modules display the module part number and version numbers as one number without the “-“ separator.
Product part number: IC694MDL645
Hardware / Firmware version at time of Manufacture: A
A – Module hardware version
Versamax example
Product part number: IC200CHS003
Hardware / Firmware version at time of Manufacture: K
K – Module hardware version
The modules do not have upgradable firmware, no module firmware version is used or displayed as part of the part number.
Image 4 – 3 Digit Date Code
Image 4, Earlier module versions displayed a 3 digit date code in place of a 4 digit number. Date Code: 626 – Module was manufactured in Week 26, 2006
LT & CA Module Marking
The GE PLC product part description can also include the following additional character options.
(These options are not available on all products and series, please check availability and pricing with your IPD team).
Image 5 – Low Temperature
"LT" stands for Low Temperature - This means the module is tested and capable of running at lower temperatures, as low as -40 Deg C.
Product part number: IC200CPU001LT
The letters “LT” are included at the end of the part number and form part of the complete part number. If the letters “LT” are after the “-“ character it is still representing the hardware/firmware version and not Low Temperature.
Image 6 - Conformal Coated
Product part number: IC695NIU001CA
Product part number: IC695CHS002CA
"CA " stands for Conformal Coated - This means the modules circuit boards have been Conformal Coated at the GE factory.
The letters “CA” are included at the end of the Part Number and form part of the complete part number. If the letters “CA” are after the “-“ character it is still representing the hardware/firmware version and not Conformal Coating.
