Emerson recently switched from a Windows-based system to a Coverity system for software testing. This has revealed a number of issues in previous SIM releases where the Proficy Machine Edition (PME) was failing/crashing.
Coverity discovered and reported 2579 critical issues with the previous version of SIM. 1400 of these issues were resolved in SIM8, with the remainder being addressed in the next SIM9 release.
What to expect,
Proficy Machine Edition 9.5 SIM9 will have the following enhancements included:
- Installation package for the standard Profinet DCP tool
- Support for low-power PNC
- Installation package for the standard EGD Management Tool
- Add RSTi-EP Profinet PNSR module GSDML file to PME installation
- PACanalyzer force list
- CPE100/CPE115 OPC-UA configuration window
- Modbus RTU slave configuration window for CPE100/CPE115
- Enable Control module Capability in PME (Previously only available in PPS)
