Low-voltage Switchboard assemblies that are intended for use on construction sites including indoors, outdoors, transportable, or mobile enclosure assemblies are required to be subjected to a mechanical impact test to be fully compliant with the Design Verification requirements of AS/NZS 61439.4:2016 which covers the requirements for assemblies on construction sites.

To ensure this compliance, the mechanical impact test sample will need to undergo a series of successive impacts to each face of the assembly and applied to positions where weaknesses are most likely to be revealed.

After the completion of the mechanical impact test, the enclosure system will need to continue to prove the degrees of protection, by completing an IP rating test. Any distortions or deformations to the enclosure and components, should not compromise the declared IP rating.

IPD’s Outdoor Low Voltage Switchboard System, EXT 56 has recently successfully passed the mechanical impact and IP test and continues to hold the original rating of IP56. The newly designed venting system rated to IP56 that is included in these outdoor assemblies, was included as part of this testing process, to ensure a fully compliant solution.

This latest development enhances IPD’s outdoor switchboard offering and provides peace of mind to our customers, knowing that their IPD products are a fully design verified solution for their construction sites and mobile power distribution applications.
