IPD recently supplied their latest offering of the 1000 voltage range to PowerTek Australia, who used the components to design and manufacture a fully functional supply system for two 1000V 720kW secondary fans that are required to supply air to the lower areas of a Tasmanian Mine via their existing rise system and housing a 11kV/1kV 3000kVA substation. The supply system was manufactured using three 1000VAC AuCom EMX4i Soft Starters, two location isolation panels and ABB 1kV Switching gears.
The EMX4i soft starters were released in early 2021, and provides enhanced productivity for the operation, precise starting and stopping functions, assists with minimising energy cost and improves operational effectiveness by delivering meaningful data to both the operator and plant automation systems through the latest technology available. The ABB 1kV switching gears compliment the system by providing the ability to manage and control large voltage variations, with exceptional reliability and performance and space-saving design.
PowerTek believes ABB are the market leaders, with the best range of products and solutions in the market for the 1kV area, while AuCom soft starters are a great solution, with the units manufactured in New Zealand, and provide access to a better back up service and lead time in comparison to other offerings on the market.
PowerTek stated that the ABB and AuCom products on their next projects due to quality products, competitive prices, and good local services available.
