Designed to be a next generation multifunctional platform SACE Emax 2 Air Circuit Breaker (ACB) has become a true power manager through cloud-computing interfaces. Embedded with state-of-the-art connectivity capabilities, ABB has ensured that the circuit breaker evolves during its lifecycle and allows you to enhance the device even after installation. These air circuit breakers are particularly useful when used in low voltage electrical applications from industrial plants, naval installations, traditional and renewable power generation installations to buildings, shopping centers, data centers and communication networks.
The SACE Emax 2 ACB range consists of 4 sizes: E1.2, E2.2, E4.2 and E6.2. The protection trip units, auxiliary connections and main accessories have been made compatible throughout the range to simplify design and installation. Optimising the overall dimensions of the circuit breakers, the sizes from E2.2 to E6.2 bear the same height and depth.
The models of E1.2, E2.2, E4.2 and E6.2 are rated at current ranges of 1600A, 2500A, 4000A and 6300A respectively, while having obtained a wide rated operational voltage range between 400-690V AC. ABB has introduced a new range of advanced functionalities to better manage all dynamics of a low-voltage electrical installation in any possible condition as well. Load shedding function operates for fast load shedding during blackouts to guarantee continuity for critical loads. In addition, power controller algorithm and integrated automatic transfer switch systems are utilised to reduce the peak of power consumed and maximize continuity of service. Implementing synchronization of voltage and frequency and controlling main grid conditions have been adapted by the circuit breakers through synchro-check logics and adaptive protection technologies. Furthermore, these advanced functionalities offer protection coordination during on-grid and off-grid conditions.
ABB provides perfect management to improve productivity through remote services and this has been engineered using pre-equipped communication units such as Modbus, Profibus, and DeviceNet protocols as well as the modern Modbus TCP, Profinet, EtherNet/IP and Open ADR. Additionally, the remote IEC61850 communication connection allows a safer interaction with the device mitigating the risk of arc flash accidents.
The entire range is available in fixed and withdrawable versions, with double insulation between the front of the switchgear and the live parts to ensure operation in complete safety. To further guarantee user-safety, the shutters of the fixed part can be locked from the front when the circuit breaker is removed and the withdrawable circuit-breaker is inserted and removed via dedicated guide rails that simplify movement.
