With the confusing number of light options available for hazardous environments and now the introduction of the LED, is LED technology really the future of lighting?

Should you consider upgrading?

Fluorescent lighting is used extensively across the world in a wide range of applications and the chances are that if your site has a requirement for hazardous area industrial lighting, then a large proportion of these will be fluorescent fittings. If you work closely with lighting, you’ll most likely be aware of some of the issues which can occur with fluorescent technology. Look around a site and you will probably see a number of fluorescents which are no longer working, or if they are still running, frequent maintenance will be required to ensure they are operating correctly.

LED linear luminaires provide a solution to many of the problems which exist with traditional fluorescent fittings. If you haven’t already then you should really be considering upgrading your site to LED. At a glance, here are the major advantages of LEDs compared to conventional fluorescent luminaires. 9 Advantages Of LEDs

  1. Longer service life and maintenance free period
  2. High performance diodes = excellent luminous efficacy
  3. Ideal for saving energy
  4. Operating and maintenance on-going costs are minimised
  5. Ideal for extreme temperatures
  6. Low CO2 emissions. LED luminaires contribute to climate protection
  7. LEDs have a high vibration resistance and suited for use in rough industrial environments
  8. Luminous intensity can be adjusted to the surrounding light
  9. LED luminaries increase safety. They do not suddenly fail completely, but only gradually lose their luminosity
